BLUE^® is a contractual agreement certifying that residential properties are watershed friendly. To earn BLUE^® certification, private property owners voluntarily comply with scientifically accepted practices, as set forth in the BLUE^® standard, for reducing water pollution runoff originating on their properties. They agree to periodic audits during the three-year certification period to maintain their certified status. Homeowners concerned with the depreciated property values associated with polluted communities have an incentive to reduce their home's watershed footprint and improve the water quality of the surrounding waters to protect and even appreciate their home's value by participating in the BLUE^® program. BLUE^® can even help prevent potential stormwater fees.
